There are many titles that already are making an impressive library for the
Xbox 360, and now Microsoft Games Studio is ready to release their next great
title, Gears of War. Under development by Epic gamers, Gears of War is shaping
up to be a must have title for the 360. Last Year at E3 we saw the first trailer
which was nothing but a big tease. Then at the Tokyo Game Show we got to see the
first actual gameplay video which took place in the same area as the teaser
trailer now we are seeing the game in action. Gears of War was assumed to be a
First Person Shooter, but after the TGS you can clearly see that the game is a
Sci-fi action shooter.
Gears of War takes action shooter gameplay and the concept of survival horror
to blend a new type of game. The main gameplay is tactical shooter basically
duck and shoot. The action is going to be non stop and at times when you have
successfully cleared an area that’s were the survival horror comes into play.
Humankind is at war with this race known as the locust horde a race of aliens
that live in the planets core. You take the role of Marcus or Dom Delta Company
commandos, now the concept is of game play is that the locust horde are aliens
the live in the dark so to survive you have to stay in well lit areas. If you
enter the dark in any way you are completely vulnerable and this is how the game
gets interesting if the next area is pitch black find something and light it up
like if there is a damaged car near by or something explosive to light your way
you then force the locust horde into the light were again you can duck and shoot
and have a level battle field.
We haven’t seen if this game will have any puzzles to solve, we’ll have to
see about that one. The camera control is third person control, but some
instances you will have to go first person if you’re zooming in with your gun.
From what we have seen the game play that has to do with all the shooting plays
a lot like the new Ghost Recon for the Xbox 360. Well Microsoft is promising a
great game and it looks like it is headed in that direction lets see what
happens we’ll keep you informed especially after this years E3 expo.
