Gravity Games: Street, Vert, Dirt Is Coming To
 The X-Box!

Written By Style Rodriguez

Since 1986 BMX and freestyle bike riding has changed in many ways. We’ve seen it in the movies, we’ve seen it on ESPN, as a matter of fact we have even seen it on the Olympics, and over the past three years we’ve had it on videogames. Speaking of videogames, Midway is now stepping up to the bat with their new version of extreme riding with the game titled, Gravity Games Bike: Street, Dirt, Vert. This title is in works for the X-Box and Playstation 2, and we have not heard if the title will be developed for Nintendo’s Gamecube.

There have been many titles in the past, Dave Mirra’s version and of course the great hit Matt Hoffman Pro Bmx, which was published by Activision. Gravity Games is based on the bike competition that is well known for its extreme riding that includes box and dirt jumping, and halfpipe comps. Here in this article we show you game play screen shots of the X-box version. Just as aforementioned in the other games, you will take the role of many different pro riders like Dennis McCoy, Fuzzy Hall, and Leigh Ramsdell. Just as you would expect you will be able to perform tricks like Backflips, 900’s, Indian Air, Rocket Air, and many more.

There are five different gameplay modes that include Graffiti mode, Horse, Best Run, Team Comp, and High Five. From what we know, some of these modes will also be available in two player modes. We are not sure how the two-player mode is going to run, like if it will be split screen and link compatible. The link compatibility would be great, this is one feature that I feel developers need to take advantage of with the systems that allow for this type of programming. The areas of Gravity games will feature places like Fuzzy Hall’s backyard dirt jumps. Along with the dirt jump areas you will have areas that the Gravity games are held at.

If this doesn’t sound good enough for you then here is a twist of this game that might interest you. There are over 1,400 moves to perform in many different fictional areas including a known comp grounds. From the names of the pros that are known to be in the game we know that the list will end at around 21 different characters to choose from. As you read this you may think, "Darn this is another Tony game or Hoffman," right? Wrong! Instead of inputting command after command for different moves, in this game the combos are laid out so that you can string them together, which gives you an incredible score.

One thing that is going to help make this a great game is the fact that there have been over 400 motions captured to give a more realistic and human look to the riders. Another thing that is set up to make this game give you a high extreme feel is the insane tricks that you couldn’t pull off that real life Gravity Games allows. Along with 21 pro riders there are a number of fictional characters to choose from, though we don’t know how many, that is yet to be determined. Since Midway was able to get the license to the Gravity Games that also means that we will see banner ads from Gravity Game sponsors like Vans, Standard Bikes, and more.

Does it sound like this is going to be a great game??? I believe so! As more and more information is released we will update you.
