Halo 2 The Release Date Announced
Written By Ryan Bollinger
Halo 2 was Announced, that’s right we finally got a
release date. November 9, 2004 is the day one of the greatest sequels hits the
store this fourth quarter. It took a while at yesterdays E3 Press conference
before they started talking about Halo, Peter Moore came out and gave the
announcement after J. Allard spoke. Click here to read about the press
conference. The movie they should last was good giving you an idea on how
Halo 2 is being improved vastly over the first, but this year the show they put
on in my opinion blew it way. We got to see our first look at what multiplayer
looked like and here is the low down.
First off they show one thing that I couldn’t wait to see
if you can hijack a Ghost in Multiplayer. The answer was yes just as I had
expected if some one was circling you and close by all you had to do was
press the X button and the player kicks who ever was on the ghost and ride off,
just remember though that this can be done to you. One of the features that they
added to the Ghost in Halo 2 is called boosting if you push in the Left analog
stick on the controller you get an extra burst of speed. But that is just the
beginning of the icing on the cake. First let’s talk about how you can Customize
your Master Chief, that’s right you can customize your master chief by adding
emblems on to him colors and more to be reveled at the show floor.
But now I really want to get talking about the new
features in Multiplayer with the upgrades that they have done with the weapons,
first off if you remember in last years show we saw the Master Chief holding to
guns one in each hand. Well that too can be done in Multiplayer, we saw in the
demo in the left hand the Chief had a Needler in the right hand he had an
assault rifle. Just in case you fire the left weapon with the left trigger and
the right with the right, very simple you just can’t hold of course both weapons
and then start throwing grenades. The next great thing is called Tracking with
the Rocket Launcher, what you do when zoomed in on your enemy is hold down the
right trigger you will see an icon showing that you have locked on and then you
fire. It was great.
So you’re thinking big deal those sound cool but is there
anything really you can get excited about sure there is. Like the fact that you
can play as an Elite the best of the best in the Covenant armada, great you’re
thinking that’s better but what else. Well you can now use weapons like the
Plasma Saber that Elites tend to use especially when they are cloaked. Now, this
is a feature that I truly enjoy seeing being done true vehicle and environment
damage. You can now destroy all vehicles in combat and the great part is they
have a delayed reaction time and will blow just as some walks up and thinks hey
I can use that Warthog to get to the other side of the map and then Bang it
blows near them earning you a great point there. Along with that you can blow up
stationary weapons that are being set in Multiplayer maps and with that rubble
that can fall down can one hurt and enemy walking by to an injury or kill of the
enemy in that area of the Map.
These are just some of the few features that where shown
at the Conference last night, so read on as we head to the Sony Press Conference
and see what they have in mind to battle it out with Microsoft for the number
spot in gaming consoles.
