Ridge Racer 6

By Donald Brown

It's that time again. A new system comes out and the frenzy starts. If you were one of the lucky few to get your mitts on an Xbox 360, congratulations, you now have another mouth to feed. Now that you have your 360 and thinking about buying a racing game, you have a few choices to choose from. You have Project Gotham Racing 3 which is more realistic with licensed cars. Need For Speed Most Wanted where you can outrun cops in tricked out rides (also licensed) and befriend a hot mama, but if you're down for a title that's about power sliding through hairpin turns while using nitrous then you've found your calling! Ridge Racer 6, Namco's 1st edition to the 360.

Although RR6 follows its previous versions, it does have a few nice lil' tweaks in it such as "nitrous" which was introduced in the 5th version. Nice additions include a plethora of cars,130 to be exact, and 30 circuits to unlock, the usual killer soundtrack. Not to mention the online capability where you can download songs from the previous R.R. games which is hot! Also you can unlock cars and trailers and if you have an HDTV, all I can say is "SWEET!" This has to be one of the best looking titles. The game modes are World Xplorer, Global Time Attack, Single Battle, Online Battle, And Multi Battle. World Xplorer is where you race to open up the secrets of the game. You also get achievement points as you play through this and the other modes as well. Global Time Attack is where you race against the clock. This race is done online and puts your finishing score amongst the world's greatest racers. See if you can top it. Single Battle is a quick race. Online Battle is where you race against competitors around the world and I must say, I got my but kicked quite a few times I'm afraid. Multi Battle is where you link up Xboxes to play against a friend’s split-screen. So there you have it. There is more to do so I won't give away everything. On that note, Happy Gaming!
