Metroid Prime, The Title
We Can't Wait For!

Written By Joel Perry

The next and greatest version of Metroid to ever grace the known universe is coming to a Game Cube near you, this winter.  This game has the most unbelievable graphics of anything I have seen on a console system (I hope the game actually keeps these graphics, as I would hate to be disappointed.  Although after what I saw at E3, I don’t think anyone who gets a Game Cube will be disappointed).

So far as we know it will be a First and Third person game in full 3D, the first 3D rendition to hit any gaming console.  So far though, Nintendo and Retro Studios have been very tight lipped about what it is that they are actually going to do with this title.  Have been referred to as both Metroid .004 and as Metroid 4, but with a final title of Metroid Prime, there are rumors abuzz about it being either a sequel or a prequel.  Neither of which are what I think it will be.

As a prequel it would either have to not have Samus in it, or not have Metroids in it, again neither of which would be very healthy for the creators of the game.  As a sequel it would have to have a story that follows something like one of these… either Samus has a blood sample stolen, and the Metroid DNA is extracted from her blood and they are cloned, or the Metroid were never originally from M388 and their cousins from how come to check up on them and find that the colony has been wiped out and gets very pissed off, all else failing maybe there are multiple types of Metroids and the ones we have already seen are just one of them.  The only other thing I can think of would be if someone created an entire colony of self-reproducing mechanical versions of the Metroids, that have started taking over multiple worlds and must be stopped (hence the return of Samus and perhaps a companion or two!?! And an insanely long game, or a couple of guaranteed sequels…)  Check back here for some more information soon…
