Activision and Paradox
Development At it Again With X-Men: Next Dimension
Written By Style Rodriguez
Right before the X-Men movie was released
Activision, with the help from Paradox Development, released the game
X-Men: Mutant Academy for the PS One. This was one title that had
bounced around from developer to developer until Activision hired
Paradox to do the job; Cyrox Development was the company before
Paradox. Other games developed by Paradox include Wu-Tang Shaolin
Style, and the never released Thrill Kill. After a short deadline and
a bunch of long nights X-Men was released and all were happy with the
finished product. Then X-Men 2 was released last November and it was a
hit with the fans that supported the first one. Sadly the new title
didn’t bring anyone else onto the X-Men bandwagon. The time
has come again for a new X-Men on the new gaming platforms that are
out there, and the Gamecube is one of them.
As you know, this is going to be the second
Fighting Game being published by Activision, the first is Blood Roar:
Primal Fury, that is being developed by Hudson Soft. Along with the
fact that the new X-Men game is being developed for the Gamecube the
game is also in the works for the PS 2 and the X-Box. Here is what we
have right now; Prime Sentential is backing up Bastion in an in your
face fight with Forge. During the battle Forge gets captured and the
X-Men have to save him before all of Mutant kind is wiped out. One of
the twists in this game is that the X-Men have to team up with the
Brotherhood Of Mutants to save Forge; the Brotherhood is lead by no
other than Magneto himself.
Right now, from what we know, the characters
that are going to be in this new version are Magneto, Cyclops,
Wolverine, Mystique, The Toad, Beast, Phoenix, and Forge. There are
new arenas that will be in this new version as well. We don’t know
if there is going to be a change on the control scheme. The Combat is
going to be just like it was in the second, with super moves, X moves,
and of course the air combos.
This title is coming along quite well from what
we know, so keep your eyes open for this one. It looks like
Paradox could do it again with the power of the new consoles. When get
fresh info on this title we'll give you the heads up.
