Daxter™

By Jason Stolfer

Move over Jak, because Daxter is here through. Well at least on the PSP. This all new adventure is made exclusively for the PSP. Daxter, being the first title developed by Santa Ana-based Ready At Dawn Studios, will set the standard for character action games on the PSP. This title will complete the Jak and Daxter story and allow players to find out how Daxter came to free Jak at the beginning of Jak II™. According to Ready At Dawn Studios, Daxter will take the Jak and Daxter franchise into a whole new direction.

Taking place during the two years of searching for Jak, who was imprisoned during the events that led to start of Jak II. In an unfamiliar place, Daxter quickly realizes that his small size won’t help his chance of survival. In order to find Jak, Daxter takes on a job as a pest exterminator which enables him to search parts of Haven City and find clues of Jak’s whereabouts. Little does Daxter know what he is getting into?

If you have been a fan of the Jak n’ Daxter™ series then getting used to the controls will not be a problem. The game handles just as if it was the PS2 version, even though you are going to be playing on the PSP. Just as any other Platform game you run around looking for secrets and making your way through many different obstacles. Jumping and fighting against different enemies there is one thing that has always been certain, which is that the Jak n’ Daxter™ series has always been enjoyable I do not see this being a problem with the PSP version of this new chapter featuring Daxter™

Daxter™ is a great game but one problem is the control and the camera control. Platform games are difficult as it is and not having a responsive control is not a great thing when you trying to do timed jumps and watch out for on coming obstacles. On top of that not being able to control the camera will trying to make these difficult jumps and what ever else the game may throw at you, can make for frustrating game play. You can learn to deal with the control and learn to play with how to make the camera work with you. You can enjoy a great storyline for a platform game fun cinemas and great graphics.
