The Sony Press Conference For E3 2004, What Did We Think.
Written By Style Rodriguez
If there is one thing that I hate
to admit is the fact that the Sony Press Conference was nothing compared to
Nintendo’s and Microsoft. Kaz President of Sony Computer Enteretainment of
America came out and started talking about the numbers on sales from the last
quarter. We know those numbers what we want to know is what is sony doing to
stay in the console war that they believe that they have won.
There wasn’t anything new that really excited anyone until
Kaz said three simple letters PSP, the handheld system that sony is now in
development with support from many of the third party developers and publishers
that already have supported the PS one and the PS2, how many developers are
involved there are quite a few but the only one that was annoucned or even spoke
on game development on the PSP was EA. Of course they spoke about their games
and the ones the are developing like Madden, Tiger Woods Golf, and Need For
Speed: Undergorund. One thing that bother me the most was the fact that sony in
no shape or form spoke about what in house games are being developed for the PSP
or what other third party companies are working on. So now your reading this say
"hey relax it’s still early in development not according to Sony the PSP will
release in Japan this Fourth Quarter and Mid-First Quarter in the US. As you can
see why this is bothering me.
The games that where shown for the PS2 which did not get
featured separately was Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Jak 3, Gran Tursimo 4,
KillZone, Ratchet and Clank 3, and a very small Clip of Grand Theft Auto: San
Andreas. This got boring very quickly, so was does Sony have up their sleeve to
stay in the fight against a business gaint like Microsoft, the only thing I can
say is the PSP but we all know that when it comes to the handheld market
Nintendo is the force to be reconked with. This is going to be interest seeing
what Sony will have on the show Floor tomorrow. |
