TWISTED METAL BLACK PS2

Twisted Metal Black: Back from the Dark Place

Written By Mary Rodriguez

I was a fan of the original Twisted Metal. When the day went bad at work, or I was mad at the world, or simply PMSing, it was a great way to take out some frustrations. What better way to improve ones mood than to go around blowing stuff up and running things over?

Twisted Metal is back again, only this time it has gone over the dark jagged edge. It has created stories for each of its twisted characters that are opened up as the game progresses. These are not fairy tales, unless you are used to reading from the unedited version of "The Brothers Grimm". Each person has their own dark history, and are all approached by the mysterious man named Calypso, during their stay at the insane asylum. Calypso offers each one a chance to get out of their padded cell and personal hells, by winning his contest. So begins gameplay.

Twisted Metal Black is the fifth installment in the series, and unlike the last two done by 989 Studios, this one is done by the original developers at Incoginc. There is outstanding improvement on gameplay and control, with better response time. Each board is created in grisly detail, and the scenery and 3D is much better than any of the other Twisted Metals. There are several hidden characters and storylines, with unique ways of finding them and opening them up. For example, you can shoot down a plane that is flying by, and after it crashes you can go in and get a hidden character and a bunch of goodies. There is also a helicopter flying around that supplies us the player with back up.

Go out and buy yourself a copy of Twisted Metal Black. It will take you to a darker place where you are allowed to act out your twisted, black frustrations without hurting anyone in the process.

Warning: This is not a game for impressionable, on the edge, unbalanced and unsupervised prepubescent kids. Play it with this understanding.
